Kirsty and Matt’s wedding cupcake tower had been in my diary since summer 2010. I can’t believe how quickly their wedding came around. I think it was because I was super excited about their unusual take on a wedding cupcake tower. I can’t believe I haven’t blogged this wedding yet, as it has to be one of my favourites this year.
Kirsty and Matt were married at Cripps Barn, just outside of Cirencester, and one of my favourite venues. It was a gorgeous summer day and they had chosen my very good friend (and my bridesmaid next year) Caroline of Caroline Alexander Photography, to capture their day for them. Caroline’s work is absolutely stunning, and Kirsty and Matt’s wedding day looks awesome!
Kirsty and Matt had approached several other companies to see if they were able to create their wedding cupcake vision, of incorporating their love of music with their wedding day. They had chosen 10 different bands, which meant something special to them both. The bands’ names were also the table names, and they wished to use their logos as printed edible images for their wedding cakes. After being advised that it wasn’t possible, Kirsty and her Mum popped into the shop and we said ‘Of course it’s possible’, but we can go one step further…. printed and 3D handmade decorations, representing the logos. Kirsty and Matt, and Kirsty’s Mum gave me a resounding ‘Yes’ and this is what happened.
We created 10 different flavour cupcakes, each identified by the 10 different bands, and the cake on the top is like a stack of records, with the top one being ‘Stand by Me’ – Kirsty and Matt’s first dance record.
Kirsty and Matt left me the most lovely comment on my Facebook page:
We just wanted to post on your wall to say a huge thank you for all the time, effort and love you put into our cakes. When we first met, you were so enthusiastic and took our original rock logo design to a new level by suggesting 3D designs also and they looked wicked!!! Other cake shops had said our design was not possible but you made it work. You are so dedicated and clearly love what you do. Anyone reading this should book you now!! Most importantly your cakes are delicious and a real talking point with the wide range of flavours you offer and they were still moist the next day after being on display all day! There is no one we would have trusted more.
Kirsty and Matthew
Congratulations to Kirsty and Matt and thank you for asking me to be part of your fabulous day.
